The state of Ohio punishes each of type of drug crime according to the weight of the illegal substance found. For the possession of an illegal substance, the penalties are as follows:

Less than 100 g: $150 fine
100 g - 200 g: Up to 30 days in jail and and/or a fine of $250
201 g - 999 g: Up to 30 days in prison and/or fine a fine of $2,500
1000 g - 4999: 1 - 5 years in prison and/or a fine of $5,000 & $10,000
5000 g - 19,999 g: 1 - 5 years in prison and/or a fine of $5,000-$10,000
20,000 g and more : 8 years in prison and/or a fine of $7,500-$15,000

For the sale of any illegal substances, the penalties are as follows:

20 g or less: $100 fine
Less than 200 g: 6 - 18 months in jail and a variable fine
